El Mejor Jefe
We are happy to announce that in addition to his growing semen sales in the U.S., we have recently entered an exclusive marketing agreement with Calvert Lodge, a premium corriente breeder and stock contractor in Australia. Calvert Lodge is seeking to fundamentally rebuild the Corriente breed in Australia and has chosen El Mejor Jefe 009 as the bull for the job! This large volume, long-term partnership will certainly add value to El Mejor Jefe 009’s progeny worldwide.

El Mejor Jefe 009 is a relatively small bull with unusually large horns with heavy bases. He is a full blood Corriente Bull registered with the North American Corriente Association (NACA). He is a son of El Jefe, one of the most famous NACA bulls, renowned for the consistent quality of his offspring. His breeder, Joe Floyd, gave him his name, which, in Spanish means, the best of El Jefe.

He was born in 2000 and is still breeding cows on a hot dry rocky desert today. His mature weight is 725 pounds. His scrotal circumference is 32 cm.

He is a very fertile bull that has passed every semen evaluation since the first evaluation when he was 18 months old. As an 8 year old bull, when his semen was collected he produced enough semen for 260 straws in 3 ejaculations in ½ hour. He has routinely settled 50 cows in each annual breeding season.

His show winnings demonstrate the correctness of his conformation, his athletic ability and the excellence of his roping ability.

Given the high level of competition in NACA sanctioned shows, it is unusual for a bull to place in 2 different roping classes. Bulls who place in roping and conformation classes are also very uncommon.

His offspring consistently show his excellent conformation, horn size and shape, and roping ability.

For example in 2007, the last year in which we actively showed cattle, his offspring won the following:

-Hoffman Cow 437 – 2007 Southwest Corriente Association(SWCA) 3rd place Mature Cow and 2007 PNCA 2nd place Mature Cow and Reserve Grand Champion Cow.
-Hoffman Bull 37 – 2007 SWCA 3rd place Mature Bull and Plains Area Corriente Association(PACA) 1st place Mature Bull and Grand Champion Bull.
